Freestyle Rap Competition Wraps Up

Twenty thousand would-be rappers and performers gathered to flaunt their microphone skills this weekend as New Orleans hosted the 14th Annual Freestyle Rapping Jam in the Superdome.

However, some of the attendees, like John Farginson a.k.a. “J-Dogg,” do not quite understand why they didn’t make the final cut.

J-Dogg explains, “I got booted in the first round, yo. The judges be frontin’ and trippin’ and shit. They said that I be repeatin’ the same unoriginal shit over and over. Check this flow out. It’s like this. My name be J-Dogg.  J-D-O-double G.  Y’all be frontin’ and playin’ ‘bout this shit I be sayin’ but it ain’t no thang fo all y’all hoes so take my ding-a-ling. True-dat, yo.”

As the day wore on, competitors offered up line after improvised line, attempting to top one another with fast, fresh lyrics and snappy cut-downs.

J-Dogg provides further comment, “This is sumthin’ I came up wit durin’ the second round, though I didn’t get to use it in competition. It’s like this. Y’all hoes can take my ding-a-ling like it ain’t no thang. Talkin’ ‘bout this shit I be sayin’ but I ain’t frontin’ and playin’. My name J-Dogg. J-D-O-double G. True-dat, yo.”

In the end, Charles Drinley a.k.a. “C-Dinky” blew his fellow rappers away and clinched the coveted top spot at the end of the tournament.

J-Dogg’s final response was tinged with anger, but offers hope, “Yo. C-Dinky be rapping ‘bout spellin’ his name and shit and what he do wit’ hoes. That’s wack. I shoulda won with dis flow. Check it out.  It’s like this. It ain’t no thang to take my ding-a-ling. That’s J-D-O-double G’s ding-a-ling, yo. Shit. You be frontin’ and playin’. Y’all some hoes. True-dat, yo. Fo real, I be all up in next year’s competition wit dat.”

Along with C-Dinky’s title of Supreme Rapmaster Flowjammin’ King of Tang, came the prize of a solid gold-plated tongue, which he now proudly bears, though it prevents him from speaking or rapping.  C-Dinky, as well as three other finalists, were also awarded roles as dancers in the crowd of Snoop Dogg’s next music video.

J-Dogg says he plans on watching that video when it comes on MTV.
